Social interactions are often led by facial expressions. But for people with autism, they tend to have a difficult time making the appropriate facial expressions, which has actually been backed up by a number of studies. In fact, the studies show that rather than make a suitable expression, those with ASD tend to either remain expressionless, or they produce expressions that are difficult to read or interpret.
