My Dry Eyes

There’s a saying that says “the eyes are the window to the soul,” and while that talks more about one’s emotions and feelings, the eyes can also give you a peek into one’s health. That is of course, if you know where to look.
There are certain changes in the eyes, like redness, puffiness, dryness, even floaters and dots, that are telltale signs that there may be something wrong in your body that needs to be checked out.
Here are 15 ways your eyes may be telling you about your overall health.

1. Dry Eyes

There are a number of reasons why you may have dry eyes such as allergies, getting older, menopause, certain medications, and many more. But in some cases, severely dry eyes can be due to inflammation caused by certain autoimmune diseases, which can be more serious in nature. Such conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, rosacea, Systemic Lupus Erythematosus, and Sjögren’s Syndrome for example are a few. While dry eyes can be quite common, it doesn’t always equate to something serious, which is why it’s important to have them checked by a medical professional to figure out what is causing your eyes to be dry in the first place.
